| We
lift anchors and motor out of Akumal Bay around 9:30 AM. Once
out of the bay we pull the sails out and sail up to Chemuyil Bay
some 5 miles south of Akumal, it takes us between 45 minutes to
an hour for the crossing. As we are sailing we drop two fishing
lines to try our luck. Usually we catch a fish or two, which will
be serving for lunch. We bring extra fresh fish on board just
in case.
Upon arrival at Chemuyil bay we anchor the boat,
pull out snorkeling gear and while some go snorkeling, others
go exploring and hiking on this secluded and pristine beach and
the rest just sunbath to a perfect tan, the boys unload the coolers
full of beer, sodas, water and other refreshments. Pretty soon
they get organized and star cooking lunch. Fresh Fish Ceviche,
Fish Stakes, Guacamole, Mexican Salsa and Chips and Fresh Fruit
will make up our green thatched ornamented table.
Lunch is ready! Will be the voice that announces
that you are ready to feast. Don’t be bashful because there
is always more, grab a cold 2 XX a plate and go for it.
After lunch just relax or take nice walk along
this magnificent and beautiful bay and think about the old Maya
sailors that used to stop in this same bay and sail in this same
waters over a thousand years ago.
While the boys get all organized again and ready
to departure take a last deep in the water and get ready to sail
back. Sometime around 2:30 PM you will be lifting anchors and
pulling out.
On your way back after the sails are up and the cool breeze blowing
the sails and caressing you, our fishing lines will go down again
and try the catch for tomorrow’s lunch.
Buena suerte! Good Luck!
