Puerto Aventuras is located 45 miles (73 km) from the international Cancun Airport in the center of the Mayan Riviera. Puerto Aventuras deepwater marina has capacity for over 250 boats and attracts everything from small pleasure craft right through to 150 plus ft. luxury yachts. There are always fish to catch, however the best season is from March through May. It is during this time that you will find the Puerto Aventuras marina full of super sleek sport fishing boats from all over the Eastern seaboard. If you want to try your hand at game fishing, there are numerous charter boats available. Although they catch and release the bill fish, the Mahi Mahi (Dorado), Wahoo, Tuna, and other fine eating fish are kept. If you aren’t lucky enough to land your own meal, head down to the docks around 1:00 or 5:30 PM when the boats are coming in and you can likely purchase some fabulous fish to take home. Wander along the marina walkways and feel free to check out the boats and chat with the crews as you explore this wonderful community. Fishing boat crews can be real characters with many interesting stories to tell.
You do not need to worry about walking alone at night; the area is very safe even for children walking around the marina. There are great varieties of restaurants, nice breakfasts, delicious lunch or a very gorgeous dinner at the Marina in Puerto Aventuras Beaches are clear, turquoise blue water, shallow and well protected by the outer reef, great places to swim, snorkel or why not! Build a sandcastle! There are public access to these beaches, also a day pass can be purchased in most of the hotels where members can enjoy their facilities including the pool with swim up bar and a beach side palapa bar that are always ready to serve up a cold refreshment or snack right to your lounge chair.
The area holds many natural attractions where you can take fun tours, there also theme parks and a nine hole golf course just minutes away on foot, very nice and never busy, there you can wander up to the clubhouse around 7 AM and you will be sure to meet one of the residents who will likely invite you to join them in a casual round. Or if you want a really entertaining round and a chance to mingle with the local Mayans, just ask one of the grounds keepers to join you. Most of them finish work by 3 PM, love to golf, and have the strangest collection of clubs you could imagine. There is a very special church at Puerto. The unique open aired “iglesia” is covered with a large palapa roof and has seen many happy couples perform their vows here. Sunday services are open to the public. Activities you can try are, diving, the closest reef is just a few yards from the beach; there are dive shops in the area with daily trips to over 12 different sites with a very short ride. Local dive sites are from 40’ shallow dives to 100’ deep dives, you can also for sure want to try Fishing in The world famous spot for sports fishing! Current from the Gulf of Mexico brings in a wide variety of fish, and the reliable Mexican Caribbean weather insures good fishing days year round!! There are many ways to get to Puerto Aventuras from the airport, you can take a taxi, a private transportation, rent a car or take the bus to Playa del Carmen and then take the colectivo (public vans transportation) to Puerto Aventuras, Vans are running up and down in the federal highway between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. The rate price to Playa del Carmen is about $25 pesos; the rate to Tulum is about $20 pesos. Vans run every 10 to 15 minutes between 5 AM to 10 PM in any direction.
